Coaching Youth Football – Offensive Line Drill

I use this Pop Warner football drill when planning who my blockers are. I have to say, my offensive line coaches do this test. This is a classic test participant block was the trainer versus the blocking pad clutch. Each child starts in a three point stance in front of the manager. The coach exhales with a whistle or yells loudly and the participant hits the pad as hard as possible and blocks the coach with force. The coach will maintain his position while gently pushing the player. The coach tells the player the ranking number. We use a scale of 1 (weak) to 10 (strong). The children then go to the end of the line and wait until it is their turn again.

You’ll quickly know that Leeds will be competitive as they start asking each other “What was your score from coach?” Suddenly there is a competition where every kid is trying to out perform each other.

Just like the Iron Man drill, you recognize which players are working hard to improve their ranking while other kids fall back and give up because they don’t like competing with other kids. The head coach should keep the morale of all the players in the team good. You should pay attention to weak children by giving only one duty. All coaches should help these players master it. Give them time, and these guys will improve their skills as the season progresses.

Are you a manager, coach and teacher of youth football, high school, college or pro? Your task is to decide that all children, especially fragile children, do not have an attitude and do not play. Please keep clear notes, ensuring that fragile children have a positive attitude.

Every athlete must start this drill with a proper three point stance.

Another common inquiry is whether football players who urinate should be taught to block using their hands or shoulder pads. Each player should be exposed to each fashion as different situations may require different types of blocking. An individual participant may find one style easier than another.

It is normal that the same players are your best blockers, runners and passers. All players, regardless of play position, need to block at some point. Also, depending on the offense you set up running backs and split ends will need to make important blocks.
