NFL Football & Don Shula

Don Shula, as coach of the Miami Dolphins, is recognized as the NFL’s winningest football coach.

Donald Francis Shula was born in January 1930 in Grand River, Ohio. Shula played football in high school and later in college at John Carroll University. Ironically, Don was not an early player. His first stint as a professional player began in 1951 at the age of 21 for the Cleveland Browns. His career as a pro ended after 7 years with the Washington Redskins. He played only 73 games in these 7 years.

His coaching career began at the college level for a few years. By 1963 he had become the head coach of the Baltimore Colts, where in a 7-year span, his record was 71 wins, 23 losses, with a 7-year winning streak. He left the Colts to coach a then-young team in its 5th season as a professional team. It was the head coaching job for the Miami Dolphins where he spent the remaining years of his coaching career.

From 1970 to 1995, Don Shula, as head coach of the Miami Dolphins, amassed an impressive record of accomplishments. During this time his team played in 6 Super Bowl games, where he holds the record for most games coached. He won only 2 of these contests. Those games were a 14-7 win against the Washington Redskins in 1973 and a 24-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings in 1974.

Don Shula holds the record for 300 career victories today. The Miami Dolphins, during his 26 years at the helm, had just 2 of those under 500 wins and 7 seasons overall. Shula’s teams reached the playoffs 20 times and won 10 times in 33 years of coaching.

Shula won Football Coach of the Year 3 times in 1964 and 1968 as coach of the Baltimore Colts and 3 times in 1971 as coach of the Miami Dolphins. By 1997, Don Shula was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the National Football League’s winningest coach.

Did The Chicago Bears Win Their Football Game Last Night Roman Catholicism: Why I had to leave PART 2

Roman Catholicism: Why I had to leave PART 2

CATHOLICS vs ROME

Vatican II declared it was no longer a sin for a Catholic to read a non-Catholic Bible or visit a non-Catholic church.

The average Catholic in the Western world loved that. Non-Catholics, too, where so many are prone to visiting each other’s churches with friends and family of various denominations. Strangely, they did nothing at Vatican II to remove the more than 100 anathemas, or curses, pronounced by the Council of Trent in 1545-63 on the Protestant churches and beliefs. More about that coming up. How good it is for all those who march under the banner of Christianity, to be able to worship our Lord and King together. But let’s be together TOGETHER. Question: Why didn’t Rome clean the slate while they were at it and lift those curses?

Is unity breaking out among denominations throughout the world? Not hardly. In some sections of the world, if a non-Catholic church begins a ministry, persecution, even death, is eminent. In other nations anything that’s not Catholic is considered a cult and is considered as unworthy of government tax exempt benefits. Strangely, in many so-called “Catholic” countries…

Italy, France, Spain, Mexico… the percentage of the population that attends church, reads the Bible, or has the slightest clue of what it means to be Catholic is staggeringly low. Fact is, sadly, the overwhelming majority of Catholics worldwide do not know what it is that God would say to them through His Word, the Bible, but are relying upon official interpretations, opinions, traditions and dogmas of the denomination, even mixing basic teachings with blatant occultic practices. Few have taken the time to study those dogmas themselves. The competency of Catholics, their sincerity, integrity, intelligence, or religious dedication, is not the concern here. Their strong convictions

are admirable, even enviable. Most would agree that, to make a quality decision, one requires quality facts. So, I encourage you, as I did, to compare the major teachings of the Catholic church with the obvious truths of God’s Word.

An analogy from my own life is this: since I was a boy, I have been a Chicago Bear football fan. Why? Because I lived in Chicago and my dad was a fan. I didn’t know the players, how well they played, the long history of the team, but it was a family tradition. As the years passed, I have remained true to the Bears, win or lose (mostl lose). Strangely, my younger son, here in the heart of Dallas Cowboy country, where we now reside, is ALSO a Bear fan. Now, I haven’t watched a pro football game on TV in many years at this writing. I know very little about

the Bears, who the coach is, who the players are, but I guarantee you, if they make it to the Super Bowl any time

soon, my world will stop to see them play on some big TV screen somewhere. (Incidentally, I am to be pitied above all men for I am also a Chicago Cub fan. Sigh).

If you will, please examine the following synopsis of details which caused me to question my Catholic affiliation and decide for yourself if there was any merit to my decision to leave the Catholic church I had been affiliated with for 21 years, attending a Catholic school, wearing my scapular, serving as an altar boy, was baptized, confirmed, etc.

THE BIBLE vs ROME

— The Bible was officially forbidden to the people, placed on the Index of Forbidden Books List by the Council of

Valencia, 1229 AD.

— Council of Trent (1545-63 AD) also prohibited its use and pronounced a curse (anathema) upon anyone who would oppose this decree.

— The Roman Catholic Church has burned Bibles and the people who translated it and promoted its study (EX: John Hus, 1415 AD; Wm. Tyndale, 1536 AD).

— Though external pressures have caused Rome to relax restrictions against Bible study in the U.S., its distribution

is still widely withheld in many countries heavily influenced by Roman Catholicism.

–Though the Roman Church claims the inspiration of the Holy Scriptures, it openly exalts the authority of its own traditions, dogmas and decrees ABOVE the Bible.

— The church teaches the deity of Christ but places Mary and priests as mediators between God and believers so that free access to Jesus is possible only through them.

— The church teaches forgiveness of sins but only through confession to a priest and the absolution given by him.

— The church teaches salvation, but substitutes a system of grace plus works in which human deeds are important.

— The church teaches that Christ established the Church, but exalts the pope as its head and invests absolute, infallible

authority in him and his decrees.

Though the Roman Catholic Church claims to be “the one true church,” arguing that its roots can be traced to Christ, the historical facts do not substantiate this claim. Roman Catholic dogma has evolved over the centuries, however, none of its

major traditions and doctrine were ever taught, defended, practiced, or embraced by the early, apostolic church.

None.

Following are some elements of Catholic doctrine, rituals, decrees, and beliefs and the approximate year they were

instituted:

Sign of the cross…300AD

Veneration of angels, dead saints, use of images…375AD

Mass as a daily celebration…394AD

Exaltation of Mary and use of term “Mother of God”…432AD

Extreme Unction…526AD

Doctrine of Purgatory, instituted by Gregory I…539AD

Prayers to Mary, dead saints, angels…600AD

Holy Water…850AD

Canonization of dead saints, first by Pope John XV…995AD

Fasting on Fridays and during Lent…998AD

Mass developed as a sacrifice, attendance mandatory…11th Century

Celibacy for priests, decreed by Gregory VII…1079AD

The inquisition, instituted by Council of Verona, suspects convicted of heresy, tortured and executed, estimated

15 million people died…1184AD

Sale of Indulgences…1190AD

Transubstantiation, proclaimed by Innocent III…1215AD

Confession to priests, instituted by Innocent III in Lateran Council…1215AD

Adoration of the host (Latin: means “victim”), decreed by Honorius III…1220AD

Bible forbidden, Council of Toulouse…1229AD

Cup forbidden to people at communion, Council of Constance…1414AD

Purgatory, pronounced as dogma by Council of Florence…1439AD

Tradition declared as equal authority with Bible, Council of Trent…1545AD

Apocryphal books added to Bible, Council of Trent, a reaction to the Protestant Reformation. By canonizing

these books it legitimized their use in doctrinal matters (1 Maccabecs 4:46, 9:27, 14:41 states the days of prophets

were gone; Jesus quoted all 39 OT books from Genesis to Malachi, never the Apocrypha; No other New Testament writer

quoted the Apocrypha. Jesus contradicted teachings from Apocrypha; Jerome, Origen and others denied its inspiration;

The Pesshitta, the Syriac Bible of 2AD, did not contain the Apocrypha)…1546AD

Infallibility of Pope, Vatican Council…1870AD

Public schools condemned, Pius XI…1930AD

Assumption of Mary, bodily ascension into Heaven after death, Pius XII…1950

Mary proclaimed “Mother of the church,” Paul VI…1965AD

Other areas of scriptural abuses and manmade doctrine include nuns, Ash Wednesday, All Saints day, medals, charms, relics, novenas, and more. This revealing list represents an overview of the many human inventions which have corrupted, distorted, and perverted the official positions presented as truth by the Roman Catholic Church to its people. The problem: worldwide, the majority of Roman Catholics have no idea!

PETER vs ROME

In his book Eaclesiam Suam, Pope Paul expressed his distress because of what some of the “Separated brethren” say about the papacy as being the stumbling block in the way of church unity. He said, “Do not some of them say that if it were not for the primacy of the pope, the reunion o the separated churches with the Catholic Church would be easy? We beg the separated brethren to consider the inconsistency of this position, not only in that, without the pope, the Catholic church would no longer be Catholic, but also because without the supreme decisive pastoral office of Peter, the unity of the Church of Christ would utterly collapse.”

Collapse? I doubt it. I do agree that if the Catholic Church were reformed according to Scripture, it would have to be abandoned. About Peter, claiming him as first pope is nothing short of doctrinal error. It’s based upon Matthew 16:13-19, where Jesus responds to Peter’s confession that He is the Christ declaring that upon this rock He will build His church and will give the keys to the kingdom to Peter to bind and loose on the earth. The papacy claims that Peter is the rock referred to here and the keys represent the pope’s absolute authority and infallibility over the church. Jesus DID say Peter was a rock, but a study of the Greek word for “rock” reveals Peter’s name (Petros) as referring to a mere stone in comparison to the massive rock (petra)… the Gibraltar, which is His Holy Name, the Name above all names… Jesus!

Jesus was not saying He would build His church upon simple Simon Peter. NO! But, He would build it upon that simple foundational confession of faith which Peter made that Jesus is the Christ! Not only Peter’s confession, but every similar confession for generations to come (Rom 10:9-11). Jesus is the Rock, not Peter! (See I Cor 3:11; Eph 2:20, 21).

The “keys” symbolize the authority to open the way of salvation through the preaching of the Gospel to all those who are shackled in darkness and sin. Peter was first entrusted with the keys because he was first to give this confession of faith in Jesus and was instrumental in initially opening the door of salvation to the Jews at Pentecost (Acts 2), as well as to the Gentiles at Cornelius’ house (Acts 10). However, ALL true disciples possess these same keys when proclaiming the way of salvation to unbelievers and offering them spiritual liberty through Christ (Matthew 18:18).

Furthermore, the Scriptures disprove Roman Catholic claims concerning Peter. Neither the Scriptures nor Peter ever claimed to be pope, head over the church, or in a superior position over the apostles. Apart from Catholic tradition, there is no biblical, historical, or credible archacological evidence that Peter ever went to Rome or presided as its leader. Read the following Scriptures. Decide for yourself:

1 Peter 5:1 (he is referred to as merely another elder among many)

1 Peter 5:3 (he actually warned AGAINST lording over the flock)

Acts 10:25-27 (he refused to receive homage from men – no ring kissing or special treatment or titles)

Matthew 16:23 (proved he wasn’t infallible when Jesus rebuked him sharply regarding the need for crucifixion)

Galatians 2:11-14 (Paul scolded him for vacillating, being inconsistent, and a hypocrite)

Matthew 8:14; Luke 4:38; I Corinthians 9:5 (he was married)

Romans 16 (Paul wrote this epistle, greeted many believers but did not greet Peter. Why not? Because he wasn’t there).

MARY vs ROME

Catholic women seem to LOVE Mary! In this age of gender equality, I have found that there are many women who love being Catholic ONLY because there seems to be a woman in at least equal authority at the helm. These women forget that anything with two heads is a freak!

In spite of Rome’s great emphasis upon Mary, the Scriptures say very little about her. She’s never mentioned by Paul, Peter, James, or John. None of the New Testament epistles refer to her either. In fact, the most significant Catholic teachings concerning her are fairly recent in origin (Immaculate Conception, 1854; Assumption, 1950).

The Bible refers to Mary as “blessed…among women” (not ABOVE women, Luke 1:28). It does not teach us to deify, worship, or pray to her. Jesus did not. Neither did the early Christians. She is recognized for her many wonderful attributes, namely, her willingness to bring Christ into the world and non-Catholics would do well to study these attributes. By that example, we should each be as willing to be used as a vessel for bringing Christ into our own world. Unfortunately, Rome’s adoration of her is condemned by God’s Word as you will see.

In The Glories of Mary (p. 82, 83), Bishop deLiguori wrote that Mary acts as a Mediator between angry sinners and God. The scriptures refute that (I Tim 2:5 and Jn 14:6). He also states that the Holy Church commands a worship peculiar to Mary. It is blatant idolatry to kneel before her statues, recite Hail Mary’s or sing songs to her. This was forbidden by Christ (Matt 4:10), where He reminded Satan: “For it is written, ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.’ ” Roman Catholicism teaches that Christ is a stern, wrathful judge who cannot be approached by sinners and that Mary is a tender, understanding, merciful intercessor who will plead our cause to her Son with the persuasion of a loving mother. The Bible refutes that (Rom 8:34; Heb 7:25; 9:24).

The Bible rejects Rome’s claim that Mary is the Peacemaker between sinners and God, pg. 80 of Bishop DeLiguori’s book. Compare this belief to the Scriptures (Eph 2:13-18). Christ is our peacemaker. Not Mary, priests, popes, deceased saints, or even the church. On page 160, deLiguori says Mary is “…the gate of Heaven because no one can enter that blessed kingdom without passing through Her…” St. Joseph’s Daily Missal, pg. 1305 says, “the Way of Salvation is open to non otherwise than through Mary,” and that “our salvation is in the hands of Mary.” Compare that claim to the Word of God, Acts 4:12. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under Heaven given to men by which we must be saved,” and John 14:6, “I am the Way and the Truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.”

The Bible gives no support to the many exalted titles the Roman Catholic Church bestows upon Mary: Queen of Angels, Door of Paradise, mother of Grace, Morningstar, Refuge of Sinners. These titles clearly represent Rome’s attempt to elevate Mary to a glorified status, not taught in the Scriptures.

Immaculate Conception teaches that Mary was born without sin. The Scriptures stress that we’ve ALL sinned (Romans 5:12) and that no one does not sin (1 Kings 8:46; Psalms 53:3, I John 1:8, 10). Mary herself acknowledges that she was a sinner in need of a Savior, (Luke 1:46, 47) by offering two turtledoves in the temple, like all poor Jewish mothers, atoning for their sin (Lev 12:6-8).

Rome’s emphasis on her perpetual virginity is clearly refuted in Matthew 13:54-56, Mark 6:3, John 7:5, 6. Though Rome claims these are Christ’s cousins, the original Greek wording clearly refers to brothers and sisters and not cousins. Read this for yourself! After Jesus’ birth, Joseph and Mary lived a normal husband and wife relationship, bearing other children.

MASS and THE EUCHARIST

According to John A. O’Brien’s The Faith of Millions, page 382, Catholics claim that communion is the exact same sacrifice as Christ’s death on the cross, and view it as a literal re-enactment of Christ’s crucifixion on Calvary in an un-bloody manner. Christ’s body is re-crucified and re-sacrificed for the atonement of the individual’s sins. Catholicism teaches that the physical presence of Christ is IN the sacrifice, and that the wine and the “host” are MIRACULOUSLY CHANGED into the actual blood and body of Jesus Christ. LITERALLY! Not figuratively or symbolically. This is referred to as “Transubstantiation,” the literal changing of a substance from one form into another. This is completely contrary to the Scriptures which repeatedly stresses the finality and completeness of Christ’s sacrifice. Read it! Hebrews 10:11, 12, 14, and 18. Also, Hebrews 7:27, 9:12, and 22:28. While you’re at it, read John 19:30 and I Peter 3:18.

In 1963, Pope John XXIII declared, “I do accept entirely all that has been decided and declared at the Council of Trent.” What did they decide at Trent, beginning in 1545? Canon I states: “If anyone shall deny that the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ, and therefore entire Christ, are truly, really, and substantially contained in the sacrament of the most Holy Eucharist and shall say that He is only in it as a sign, or in a figure-let him be accursed!”

In other words, Rome teaches this: that little wafer is GOD! The bread is supposedly literally changed into Christ by the priest. You’d BETTER believe it…or you’re cursed, according to Canon I. Fact is, tens of millions of people have been tortured and killed through the age for challenging such Catholic dogmas. The problem with this particular decree is that the majority of today’s logical, thinking Catholics deny they can believe this is true. Especially in the Western world. According to TRADITIO: Traditional Roman Catholic Internet (www.traditio.com) “70% OF NOVUS ORDO CATHOLICS NOW HOLD AN HERETICAL BELIEF IN THE HOLY EUCHARIST.” According to their report, this staggering statistic reveals, “… Only 30% of Novus Ordo Catholics believe that they are really and truly receiving the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ under the appearance of Bread and Wine. This has always been the Church’s dogma regarding the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist… The poll results show a terrible confusion on the part of Catholics concerning one of the most fundamental dogmata of the Church, a confusion that has actually led them into (at least material) heresy. The poll results were presented to the U.S. Bishops at their annual conference of November 1992 at Washington, D.C. The bishops failed to take any action, but preferred to let 7 out of 10 Catholics remain in (at least material) heresy.” Ouch!

Since it wasn’t a practice till the early 1200’s, where did this belief originate? The mystic religions and worshipers of Osiris of the Middle East were a great influence on the West, particularly the cultured Italians. Also, the religion of Mithra had its impact. The idea of eating the flesh of deity was popular in Mexico and Central America long before missionaries landed there. Prescott’s Mexico, Vol. 3, quotes, “…their surprise was heightened, when they witnessed a religious rite which reminded them of communion…an image made of flour…and after consecration by priests, was distributed among the people…declaring it was flesh of deity.” A primitive practice indeed. Why do Catholic catechisms and doctrinal instruction books want people to think they must eat Jesus? The answer’s worth seeking.

Football Hall of Fame – A Game Worth Watching

After nearly six months of waiting, the NFL preseason arrives to end the misery of football fans everywhere — until they realize just how boring it is. Watching anyone play badly against anyone else isn’t as entertaining as their professional uniforms tell people, but the Hall of Fame game is different. It’s worth watching for a few reasons.

-For one thing, this is the first of a boring preseason game. This may be its biggest advantage. The audience has not yet been desensitized to the advent of football. Excitement is still in the air. The best players on your team haven’t gotten hurt yet. Every team still has Super Bowl aspirations. It can be hard not to watch the first football game in months.

-Hall of Fame Game is an event within an event, specifically the Hall of Fame. Induction ceremonies in Canton precede games and are about the most poetic things you’ll find in sports. But if you’re looking for something beyond a well-crafted speech, this game will give you that. Each Hall of Fame inductee joins the commentary crew to discuss their experience. You can hear exactly what they felt throughout the process – from ending their careers, to being nominated, to being hired. Each player experiences it differently and gives insight into the Hall of Fame game.

-This is a game where you will be introduced to new teams. The Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans expansion teams are all featured in the game. Another NFL expansion is out of the question (Los Angeles comes to mind) and this game is where fans will be able to see and evaluate their uniforms for the first time as they step onto the field. First time players. And if it’s your city that’s just been blessed with a team, it’s a must-see.

-This may just be an exhibition game, but you’ll be getting a good look at future Hall of Fame players. More than a few have participated in the game, including Troy Ekman, Dick Butkus, John Elway, Joe Montana, Walter Payton, Lawrence Taylor and Gene Upshaw. They were all first Ballet Hall of Famers. It’s not just a chance to meet the new inductees, but to wonder about the future.

So maybe the quality of the game won’t thrill you from start to finish, but if you’re like the NFL fans who wait for the new season the day after the last game, the Hall of Fame game is the way to go. To get back into the swing of things. There’s something for the casual fan, too.

Did The Buffalo Bills Win Their Football Game Last Night NFL Betting System For Intelligent Football Betting

You are searching about Did The Buffalo Bills Win Their Football Game Last Night, today we will share with you article about Did The Buffalo Bills Win Their Football Game Last Night was compiled and edited by our team from many sources on the internet. Hope this article on the topic Did The Buffalo Bills Win Their Football Game Last Night is useful to you.

NFL Betting System For Intelligent Football Betting

Welcome to my article. I have found that this betting system for the NFL wins about 63% of the time each season. Hope it continues and you can win.

It’s very easy to learn and use so there’s no reason not to give it a try – good luck!

First, look at the week’s NFL schedule and identify the underdogs playing at home.

For an underdog team playing at home, note the team they are playing against.

What you need to do now is compare the stadium surface of the home team with the stadium surface that the away team is used to playing on. I will list the surfaces that all NFL teams have played on below.

If the home underdog team plays on a different type of surface than the away team’s home stadium, bets will be settled for the home underdog team.

Basically this NFL betting system is to bet on an underdog team playing at home versus a team that is not used to playing on that stadium surface. Always bet on the point spread, not the money line.

For example, if the Cleveland Browns are playing at home against the New England Patriots and the Browns are the underdogs, you would place straight bets on the Cleveland Browns in this game because the Browns stadium has a grass surface, while the Patriots home stadium has a turf surface.

The Patriots are more accustomed to the turf surface they play on at home, so their chances of winning are significantly reduced when they are playing in a stadium with a grass surface.

Here are NFL surface conditions to help you with this 63 percent winning system:

NFL teams and home surface conditions

Arizona Cardinals grass

Atlanta Falcons Turf

Baltimore Ravens Turf

Buffalo Bills Turf

Carolina Panthers grass

Chicago Bear Grass

Cincinnati Bengals Turf

Cleveland Brown Grass

Dallas Cowboys Turf

Denver Broncos grass

Detroit Lions Turf

Green Bay Packers grass

Houston Texans grass

Indianapolis Colts Turf

Jacksonville Jaguars grass

Kansas City Chiefs grass

Minnesota Vikings Turf

New England Patriots Turf

New Orleans St. Turf

NY Giants Turf

NY Jets Turf

Oakland Raiders grass

Philadelphia Eagles grass

Pittsburgh Steelers grass

St. Louis Rams Turf

San Diego Chargers grass

There you have it. A simple NFL betting system for you to use and profit from.

Now, here are some additional NFL betting system tips to support this system.

If you’re new to American sports betting, there are a few terms worth learning. First, betting on the money line means betting on the team to win outright. If the team wins, you win, if they lose, you lose.

The money line has different odds values depending on the teams involved so betting on the underdog team (as in the betting system above) means you will win more or less than betting on the favorite.

Another form of betting is betting on the “point spread”. This is a form of handicapping in which odds makers predict that one team can expect a stronger points level than another team.

So, if you bet on a team whose point spread is +3 it means that even if this team loses the game by 2 points your bet will stand. Again, if the team you are betting on has a spread of -4 points, your team needs to beat by more than 4 points to win your bet.

Point spreads change in the days leading up to the game. It’s best to find good value early rather than waiting as you bet on the underdog with this NFL betting strategy. nfl betting

The first basketball Supersonics were moved out of Seattle and moved to Oklahoma City. Baseball’s Mariners then became the first MLB team to lose 100+ games with a $100 million payroll. The football Huskies then beat Washington to start its season 0-5, making it the worst college team in the country and the only BCS eligible school without a win.

Now the football Seahawks open their season 1-3 with a defense so porous that housewives all over Seattle could use it as a sludge to pass liquids.

The Hawks lost their road opener to the Buffalo Bills 34-10 (who finished 7-9 last year in the AFC East), at home to the San Francisco 49ers 33-30 (the 49ers finished 5-11 last year), and finally to the Los Angeles Rams 37 at home. lost 13 (the Rams were 3-13 last year), and they lost to the New York Giants 44-6 (the Giants won the Super Bowl last year).

Seattle hosts Green Bay at home this Sunday (10-12-08). Before coming to Seattle, Holmgren spent 7 years with the Packers compiling a 75-37 regular season record and winning 3 consecutive NFC Central titles and making 2 trips to the Super Bowl and winning one.

So how bad are the Seahawks on defense this year? Really bad. They rank 24th in rushing defense (among 32 NFL teams), 25th in passing defense, 27th in total defense and 29th in scoring defense. He has given up 24 big plays of 20+ yards in his first 4 outings.

This negative statistic becomes even more important when you know that 1) Seattle’s defense was pretty good last year, 2) they led the NFL in fewest touchdown passes last year, and 3) they return all 11 starters from last year’s defensive team.

To add insult to injury, Seattle hasn’t played well on the road and supposedly has East Coast junks. Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren doesn’t hear or believe any of the East Coast cynicism. Before the Hawks’ trip to New York and loss to the Giants, Holmgren said this in no uncertain terms:

“You lose a home football game for the same reason you lose a football game… …you lose because you play poorly. You fumble the ball, you throw an interception and you miss a tackle. Period. I want to hear that.”

Mike is a successful and influential man with earned authority. When he speaks, you shut up and listen. When you win 8 NFC division titles, take your team to 3 Super Bowls, and win a Super Bowl, you can talk.

I completely agree with Holmgren. The Seahawks have talent, proven success and experience at key positions. Perhaps the flaw in their game performance is as much or less a head problem.

The Seahawks have played much better defense at home—where they’ve been cheered on by their raucous supporters—than on the road. Cooler heads know that if your drama is based on emotion rather than self-control, you have a serious problem that you can’t sustain an emotional fan down the road.

The more control you have over your thoughts, words, feelings, and behavior, the more effective you will be when faced with a shock. That’s why smart players stay out of trouble (on and off the field) while other players get into trouble.

When you have so many stars on a team—Matt Hasselbeck, Walter Jones, Lofa Tatupu, Julian Peterson, Leroy Hill and Marcus Trufant—sometimes the stars become bigger than the team and there’s not enough room on the playing surface to accommodate everyone’s egos.

Knute Rockne may not have coached pro football, but he was a brilliant football coach. Here’s a quote from Rockne from the 1920s that applies to any team at any level today:

“The secret (of success) is to work less as individuals and more as a team. As a coach I play not my best 11 but my best 11.” (Read Rockne’s last sentence about 20 times and you’ll get it.) Every team in the NFL has stars, but only one team wins the Super Bowl.

Did The Big Ten Vote To Play Football This Year It’s A Wonderful Life

It’s A Wonderful Life

Sadly, many pro-choice advocates tend to label their counterparts primitive believers. It would seem that, to such ‘progressive’ people, all priests who oppose abortion are but a lower species, and their faithful are merely a primitive herd. However, they don’t dare to take a look at the man in the mirror, which is proof of hypocrisy and primitivism. Who is displaying a lack of tolerance in this story? Don’t they say that a lack of tolerance is typical of primitivism?

What is the definition of primitivism? Every person must decide for themself, because every person has been primitive on occasion, sooner or later in life (and by this I don’t mean being in the cradle as a child, because this is where we are at our most tolerant). We should sincerely think about it: if faith fosters love, compassion and kindness towards the other in people, then those who call all of this primitive must be the most primitive of all. Love connects people, hatred tears them apart. Each person, as a free individual, is entitled to free opinion, and life should be the judge of who’s right and who’s not. But how are we supposed to get an answer from life if we kill it to begin with?

I don’t know much about victories, but there is on thing I am sure of: compassion is the greatest of victories of the human spirit. I am writing from my own experience because, as a youth, I was a sceptic blinded by myself, by raw lust, alcohol, drugs, cynism, arrogance… and one day I arrived at the very edge of life. I thought I should simply leave this world because I never became as famous as I expected. I cheated on women who sincerely loved me due to raw lust, and then I felt His hand on my shoulder. With the voice of the wind, He said to me: “It’s not time for you to go. Even if you think that your aimless straying is over, know that you’ve only started off on the righteous path. Find your guide in poetry, and it shall take you into the hearts of many. Be the voice of those in need, be the voice of love, be the voice of freedom, and you will turn yourself and others into better people through your verses.”

Since that day, I feel much happier and fulfilled, not because I think that I’m special or free of sin, but because I realized that I am just a sinner who sincerely wants to better himself, and I can safely say that there is a higher holy force that makes us better. I do not know what He looks like, but I do know He exists, with all my heart and soul. I won’t attempt to look for Him here or there, because He teaches me that whenever you’re doing good unto others, He is within you. Ever since then, I have learned that faith accounts for a strong spirit, which is any person’s best ally in times of temptation, because weak-spirited people will be the first to fall. Who is falling?

Those who fail to show compassion for others;

Those who are ready to rebuff themselves for the sake of power and money (such people become slaves to greed);

Those who hate more than they love;

Those who want to rule over nature (A person can only feel all the enchantment of nature if they love it as they love themselves, and in synergy with nature – the sun and the wind – people shall create energy that will take them into space, to shake brotherly hands with other creatures of God);

Those who want to clone stem cells to create human beings in laboratories, while at the same time there are millions of people dying of hunger (We know that a human being is only complete with emotions, which come from the soul that can never be created by another human);

Those who hope that hunger will decimate humanity, because there is too much people in this world anyway (If that happens, the cloned man shall rule, and tears, laughter, sorrow, hope and faith will be gone, as well as humans with souls);

Those who attempt to cure the emptiness within with futile lust (To love is to place our happiness in the happiness of another – Leibniz);

Those who are afraid of solitude (of the man in the mirror);

Those who consider the faithful to be primitive.

Many people like to play with statistics, but I say that those who are slaves to statistics are slowly losing the most important thing that makes them human – their emotions. Yes, life teaches us that the day we master our own emotions, we lose them forever. And, regardless of statistics, we have to listen to our hearts, which tell us that faith doesn’t teach us anything bad. Is faith in compassion a bad kind of faith? Is helping those in need a bad kind of faith? Is faith in love a bad kind of faith? Is faith in the idea that every living being has the right to live a bad kind of faith? I will allow myself to quote a great comment by a forum member at a Croatian news portal: “Those who claim that there are ten thousand abortions a year due to a “bad social situation”, rape (or forced sex in marriage), or medical indications during pregnancy, are fools. Most of these abortions are performed on the younger female population. These are mostly young girls who get pregnant, and then their mothers, who are around 40 and do not want to become grandmothers, drag them to the doctor to have an abortion. The worst thing is the fact that many of them have several abortions. The fact that it’s almost like going to the dentist is shameful. I am sickened by this society’s hypocrisy. The World Down Syndrome Day wasn’t that long ago. Would any pro-choice supporters dare to say – in public, and on that particular day – that it’s acceptable to have an abortion if tests show that the child will suffer from Down’s syndrome. And in Croatia, abortions are performed for that reason, among others! And it is legal. The test is performed during week 11 of the pregnancy, so that the pregnant woman may have an abortion in case of bad test results, as abortion is legal up to week 19. What is the difference between such a pregnant woman and the Nazis, who considered the ill to be degenerate and freaks that should be extinguished?”

Why am I so touched by this unfortunate abortion story? Because I am an extramarital child of a poor mother with a rich soul. My late mother told me at her deathbed that my mother was a great dreamer, and that I must have inherited that trait from her. Grandma admitted that her young daughter was abandoned by her partner, who left her behind pregnant, with the promise that he would return for her as soon as he makes some money up north in the Big Apple, and he would take her to paradise, but she never heard from him again. Grandmother tried to talk her into having an abortion, because they were barely able to survive, even without a child, but at that point she joined her hands in prayer and, looking up, she said: “Thank God, she wouldn’t listen to me… your mother is a hero, she took up the toughest of jobs to be able to raise you… and when social services wanted to take you away and give you up for adoption to a wealthy couple from a big northern city, she said that it would happen only over her dead body!”

My mother drew her indomitable strength from the Texas prairie. She always stood upright like a cactus, she withstood the winter, the wind, the draughts – to cut a long story short, the capricious winds of destiny never drove her to her knees (sadly, the man who left her pregnant and left off to New York was a weak-spirited coward, even though he was Texan). When I went to football games as a youth, I used to compare the football coach to my mother. I remember the words of the late coach, who was adored by the fans almost as if he was a saint. He himself was a fan of the working class, and he used to tell his players: “We always have to think and play from game to game, because this is the credo of the people of this city. We are a reflection of the community we live in. People have to fight in order to survive. Just like them, as soon as we stop doing it, we don’t stand a chance. People identify themselves with us, we are a source of their hope, and we simply can’t let them down. What we feel when we take the field isn’t pressure. Pressure is when these people go home lacking the money to feed their kids.”

Yes, my mother was from a poor family, but her soul is noble, and that’s why I’m always proud to say that my mother is blue-blooded and nobility, because there is no greater nobility than love. I can proudly claim before the world that I have inherited my love of the earth, not just the golden Texas prairie, but our one only planet Earth, from my mother. SACRIFICE, modesty, humility, respect, hard work, faith… that’s the motto, not just of my humble family, but of most people across the proud Texas prairie. There is no government or money that could keep me from fighting for nature, and this is also why I fight against bankers, oil corporations, greedy dictators, political castes (by this, I don’t mean political visionaries like myself, who fight to save nature) because, lest we forget, global warming isn’t a natural process, but a product of human greed. I remember my mother singing the old “Tennessee Waltz” to me when I was a kid. If you listen to the immortal Patti Page, you will know the kind of singing voice my mother had when she was young. I’ll never forget watching her sing and look through a small window into the distance, like a golden bird locked in a cage. But instead of her, her baby bird left the cage and flew off into the world in his early youth. What sacrifice it must be to voluntarily imprison your youth and beauty into a small dark room for the sake of your child, I think while wistfully looking at a pale family photo. One Christmas Eve I asked her if she ever considered an abortion, and she looked into the distance and said in a tired voice: “I must admit that there were moments when I blamed all my troubles on God, but my faith was stronger… My faith kept me from falling, and an angel who whispered to me that I should look for work as a cleaner in the maternity ward. Those newborn children gave me the strength to stand up and fight. Yes, son, there were troubled times ahead, but I saw an ocean of craving in your big blue eyes that made it worth living for… “

After listening to this story, I often thought how great it would have been if all the newborn children had mothers like that. I never turned out to be wealthy, or a great politician, but I wrote some poems, novels and plays that made it worth to live. After all, who gave us the right to decide whether to have an abortion or not?! It’s not important what kind of country or family a child is born into, it might still become a great journalist, poet, actor, philosopher or humanist politician some day, someone who will make the world a better place to live. Or else, they might become the most important thing – a simple honorable human being.

Yes, life is wonderful in deed, and when you think that there is no way out, just remember Frank Capra’s classic movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”. The younger generation should watch that movie in school, because the movie, with acting virtuoso James Stewart, teaches us that life is worth fighting for even when you think that there is no way out and, what’s most important, how to remain human. Yes, this movie proves the positive power art can have on the human soul, and this is why the world should pay more attention to art that enriches all the values that make us human. Literature and motion pictures with noble messages deserve more attention from people, instead of slavery to raw profit.

It is common knowledge that every person has the freedom to choose between good and evil. When I read a true story about a homeless man in New York, who found a bag full of money and returned it to the owner, I was proud to be human, but when I read that the same man became homeless due to bankers’ greed, I am ashamed of being human. It is interesting to find out that the same story happened twice, in the U.S.A. and in Croatia. When journalists asked the Croatian homeless man in Split why he returned the money, he just shrugged and humbly replied: “Even though I lost everything, partly because of my own mistakes, and partly because of the bank’s usuries, all I want is to remain a faithful and honest man.” Yes, this man is a hero of mine. Of course, I do not promote poverty. I want to be successful, but I do not want to lose my soul in the process. I always vote for capitalism with a human face and a human soul. Yes to success, but no to greed! This is my life’s motto, lest we forget that greed is a disease much more dangerous than the pest or cholera. The Croatian political caste is proof of greed being a dark bottomless pit. Imagine a small and beautiful country blessed by mother nature, with a thousand islands and a clear azure sea, fertile lowlands and paradise green valleys, yet with many thousands people, both old and young, going through garbage bins because of the political caste’s greed. Now try to imagine how endless the politicians’ greed is: kind people who want to donate food to the poor must pay taxes to the state on any food or other goods they donate to the poor. Thus, the paradox is that it is easier to just throw away the food into garbage than to donate it to the poor. This political caste (the “reformed” communist party) isn’t satisfied by millions paid in bribery by “investors”, or by selling state-owned companies with brand names for peanuts, like insurance companies and banks, and other malversations. No, they simply must steal whatever little the paupers have left. Isn’t greed really an accursed disease? It doesn’t simply destroy the body, no, it also destroys the human soul. It is a dark bottomless pit that can never be filled, and it feeds on human souls. This is what my noble mother taught me. She would never allow herself to be separated from the family brooch she inherited, displaying a smiling Christ figure. There are many people who look down on people like her, and they think that gold credit cards give them the right to consider themselves the betters of the poor faithful. Well, they’re wrong! The worst kind of poverty is the poverty of the spirit. Those who are working their way towards power and money, looking down on the faithful, should know that those who ridicule faith are those who call His name the loudest on their deathbed. I do not support fanaticism in anything, and certainly not in faith, because the Creator teaches us that tolerance and love for others is the best way towards faith. So, even when I criticize greedy people, I do not hate them. Instead, I am doing it from the depths of my soul, hoping for them to see the world through the eyes of the faithful someday.

History teaches us that even the greatest among unbelievers experienced a sincere conversion at the end of their lives (and I don’t mean Pharisees). On his deathbed, Jean-Paul Sartre said to his best friend: “You know, Francois, I was a great skeptic all my life as far as faith is concerned… but there must be a higher deity that enriches the human soul with all those values I was searching for like a castaway on the ocean of temptation… “

Yes, and I would add: taking a step at a time on the path to true freedom isn’t easy, as the great Plato taught us. Weak-spirited people will choose their safety in the dark, while those who are blessed with faith search for light, becoming genuine messengers of freedom in their lifetime. Those who close the doors on a child at its conception should know that this is how they turn of the light of life on themselves.

Did The Big Ten Decide To Play Football This Year 10 Great Reasons You Should Join a Football Team

You are searching about Did The Big Ten Decide To Play Football This Year, today we will share with you article about Did The Big Ten Decide To Play Football This Year was compiled and edited by our team from many sources on the internet. Hope this article on the topic Did The Big Ten Decide To Play Football This Year is useful to you.

10 Great Reasons You Should Join a Football Team

If you enjoy football and playing with your friends, you may not have seriously considered joining a football team. You may have thought you weren’t good enough or too old or too young. There are many local teams these days, and if you don’t have one near you, why not start one?

1. Improve as a player

If you’re already a keen footballer, you might be getting a little frustrated with the people you play with. Maybe you take your game seriously and want to improve, while your partners might find it a little fun.

2. Play regularly

Playing football regularly will help you improve and you will learn a lot about the game. You may change position; You may see yourself as a defender, but the manager will see you as a winger or a striker.

3. Exercise and fitness

Playing football will keep you fit and healthy and if you take your sport seriously, you will be able to think more about your body and your diet. Lasting 90 minutes on a Sunday is a tough task, especially if you are not used to it and are not in great shape. If you are serious about your game, you will soon improve.

4. Improve as a person

Being a regular in your football team will give you extra responsibilities and help you mature. You need to turn up on time and bring your kit and be ready for the training session or match. It can help you stay more organized at work and at home.

5. Make new friends

Joining a team will be a great opportunity to make new friends and benefit from their skills and experiences.

6. Not expensive

Football is a cheap sport to get involved in. No need to spend money on expensive equipment. As long as your boots are comfortable and you have the right shin pads and gloves if you’re a goalkeeper, that’s probably all you need, as the rest of the kit is likely to be supplied by your team.

7. Work as a team

Working as part of a team will help you play as a team instead of 11 players. You will have to follow the manager’s instructions during the game and coaching sessions will enable you to learn formations and tactics as well as improve fitness and skills.

8. Achieve your potential

If you think you have what it takes to be a footballer, you may want to give it up and not be surprised if you could have made it as a professional. Joining a team will give you this opportunity.

9. Play like a pro

You can wear the shoes of your favorite player and try to emulate them, especially if you play in the same position. You can spend a lot of time watching other footballers, helping you improve or having the same discipline as a professional as you take the game seriously.

10. Because you enjoy sports

If you don’t enjoy playing football, you don’t want to play it. So if you’re playing for a team and you’re not enjoying it, for whatever reason, why not consider requesting a transfer and trying out for a different team?

You may not be a speedy winger with all the tricks, you may not get a hat-trick every game, but you are just as important as a team player. If you let the team down, you let yourself down. If you take your football seriously, you owe it to yourself to be the best player you can be.

Who knows, you might get spotted by a scout, become a professional footballer and hit the big time!

Did Tampa Bay Buccaneers Win The Football Game Last Night Tampa Bay Buccaneers Drop to 0-2 in 2009

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Drop to 0-2 in 2009

No one knew what to make of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the 2009 NFL season. It was a strong team that made the playoffs in 2007, but faltered a bit in 2008, slipping on both offense and defense.

With the loss of Joey Galloway, the offense looked set to suffer, but some nice additions to the offense department (Byron Leftwich at quarterback, Derrick Ward from the Giants and tight end Kellen Winslow from the Browns) put the Bucs in a position to build on their offensive struggles from the 2008 season.

The Bucs opened the 2009 campaign with a game against the Dallas Cowboys. No one knew what to expect from this game. The Cowboys were without Terrell Owens and the game was being played in Tampa Bay, so some predicted Tampa Bay would win.

Things didn’t work out that way for the Bucs. The Cowboys jumped out to an early lead and never really looked back, winning the game by a score of 34-21.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced a somewhat tougher opponent in Week 2, traveling to Buffalo to take on the Bills. The Bills nearly beat the New England Patriots in Week 1, and looked much improved in 2009, thanks to some key additions on both offense and defense (especially Terrell Owens). The Bills won the game 33-20, almost the same score as the Bucs’ first loss of the week.

An 0-3 start would be hardly ideal for Tampa Bay, but with a game against the Giants, it could be in the cards.

Usain Bolt – The World’s Fastest Man

Usain Saint Leo Bolt, or simply Usain Bolt, is a Jamaican sprinter who won three Olympic gold medals. He is the world record holder for the 100 m, 200 m and 4×100 m relay, becoming the first person to win all three events at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He also broke Carl Lewis’ 1984 record at the Beijing Olympics. Because of Bolt’s achievements, he is called “‘Lightning Bolt'” and is regarded as the fastest man in the world.

Bolt was born on August 21, 1986 in Trelawny, Jamaica. In his early years, Bolt was interested in playing football and cricket. He attended William Nibb High School where he was awarded the fastest sprinter in the 100 meters. Athletes Pablo McNeil and Dwayne Barrett mentored him to improve his athletic skills. In 2001, during the annual high school championships, Bolt won his first silver medal in the 200 meters.

Over the years, Bolt joined and won many other events such as: a silver medal at the 2001 CARIFTA Games, a gold medal and two silver medals at the 2002 World Junior Championships in Kingston and a gold medal at the 2003 World Youth Championships.

He began his professional career in 2004 when he began training with Fitz Coleman. He participated in the CARIFTA Games held in Bermuda and broke the world record held by Roy Martin. In 2005 and 2006, Bolt finished in the top five in the world rankings. In 2006, he trained under his new coach Glenn Mills, and at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Usain Bolt won three gold medals and set a new world record.

Even with Big Ben out, I still think the Steelers win this home opener. The Steelers defense is simply too good. It will be close though.

Pick: Pittsburgh – Pick ’em

Atlanta-6 at Carolina

A tough game against a division rival, but the Panthers D featuring Michael Vick and Warrick Dunn won. Gotta go with the home team here.

Pick: Carolina -6

Tampa Bay at Baltimore-3

Chris Sims shows up and proves to the Ravens that he is ready to be a starting QB. Both teams have quality defenses, but the Bucs have the better offense, especially when Cadillac gets going.

Pick: Tampa Bay -3

Buffalo in New England -9

To be honest, I have been a New England Patriots fan since elementary school. I will never root or pick against them. So, in my completely unbiased opinion, they’re going to kick the crap out of the Bills this weekend. Losman doesn’t know what hit him and Corey Dillon will be back to his old form.

Pick: New England -9

Cincinnati-3 at Kansas City

Both teams have potentially explosive offenses and this could be a high scoring game. Since both teams are evenly matched, I will give the team some points.

Pick: Cincinnati +3

Denver at St. Louis + 3 1/2

Even though the Rams have a new coach, they are still a quality team, at home and scoring. It’s easy.

Pick: St. Louis +3 1/2

New Orleans-3 at Cleveland

Charlie Frye may be a good NFL QB, but this game is not. However, I think the Saints offense will win this one. Reggie Bush shows his stuff and Drew Brees’ signature starts to look smarter. Cleveland claims they improved their defense by signing two aging veterans, Ted Washington and Willie McGinest. Someone walks in…

Pick: New Orleans +3

New York Jets at Tennessee-3

The Jets are going to struggle this year, and it’s going to start in Tennessee. This is probably the worst game of the day and since I live in New York I have to watch it. Honestly, both teams suck, but I’ll go with the home team.

Pick: Tennessee -3

Philadelphia at Houston + 4

One of these teams is on the way up and the other is on the way down. As Donovan goes, go for the Eagles, but he doesn’t do much against the Texans, who are starting to show signs of life. Many years of high draft picks come to fruition.

Pick: Houston+4

Seattle at Detroit +6

The Seahawks are a tough team for the Lions to handle, although I think the Lions will be much improved this year with a new coaching system. I’m not a big fan of taking away teams by giving away points, but I have to do it here.

Pick: Seattle -6

+3 1/2 at Chicago Green Bay

The Pack won’t be very good this year, but I think they always have a chance with Favre. In this game, they make the bears look better than they are.

Pick: Chicago -3 1/2

Dallas -2 1/2 at Jacksonville

The Cowboys are going to be much improved this year as they contend for the NFC East title. A few costly mistakes will cost them their game. Leftwich shows why he was a first rounder.

Pick: Jacksonville -2 1/2

San Francisco at Arizona -7 1/2

The Cardinals will compete for the division this year, but have a lot more to give than touchdowns. If Warner can keep his head on straight, this could be the most explosive offense in football this season. However, things will start off slow in the first game and I’ll take the slightly improved 49ers and the points.

Pick: San Francisco +7 1/2

Indianapolis at New York Giants +3

The Manning Bowl Sunday Night Football kicks off on NBC. The Colts are a good team, but I’m going with the Giants to pull off the upset in the Meadowlands.

Pick: New York Giants +3

Minnesota -4 1/2 at Washington

That’s no way to start Monday Night Football on ESPN, and I’m glad they’re airing another game this week. While this may appear to be a defensive struggle, the fact of the matter is that both offenses stink. The Redskins will likely be without Portis for at least a few weeks. I will give the team some points.

Pick: Minnesota +4 1/2

San Diego at Oakland +3

Both teams have new QBs, so there are a lot of unknowns here. LT takes the game and runs all over the Raiders.

Pick: San Diego -3
