Trash Wraps Brighten Up Downtown Indianapolis – Help Visitors Keep Downtown Clean

In late February, nearly 200 downtown garbage collectors will be decked out in colorful trash cans. The vibrant wraps are blue and green with the message “Keep Litter in Place” and “Keep Downtown Clean.” The goal of the initiative is to encourage customers to put trash in its place and raise awareness about downtown cleanliness. The Trash Wrap program began in 2000 when the Indianapolis Downtown Inc.’s Cleaning Advisory Committee decided to convert trash pickers. The event was presented as part of the NCAA Final Four preparation for the festival appearance. The wraps were such a hit with visitors, businesses and the community that they now appear every spring. For more information, call IDI at 237.2222.
